Class Action Lawsuit Over Failure to Inform Seniors of Tax Break is Settled For $7.5 Million

The South Carolina Department of Revenue wants to make sure senior citizens entitled to a tax break receive it.

Shops around the state were supposed to post signs by Wednesday telling those 85 and older they are entitled to a 1 percent reduction in sales tax.

The notification push follows a $7.5 million class action lawsuit verdict this week meant to compensate seniors who say they never knew about the entitled discount.
