Ward v. Dixie National Life Insurance Company: Cancer patients brought this breach of contract class action to recover amounts due under supplemental insurance policies from two insurance companies. The federal appellate court entered a rare summary judgment finding that the insurance companies had breached their contracts. The federal district subsequently entered an award of 7.9 million in damages.

Edge v. State Farm Insurance Company: This class action charged that State Farm Insurance improperly charged increased premiums to drivers in accidents who were not at fault. The case was settled when State Farm agreed to refund the insureds the amount of the unfairly increased premiums.
