Winning Legal Protection for South Carolina Consumers
The law firm of Richard A. Harpootlian, P.A. stands up for consumers in class action lawsuits challenging unfair or deceptive business practices, false or misleading advertising, and breaches of contract. Our firm has successfully challenged the conduct of the State government and some of the nations largest corporations based on their policies and tactics that unfairly take advantage of the consumer. Examples of some of our cases involve car dealerships, insurance, lottery games, and securities fraud.
A typical example of these types of cases is Ward v. Dixie National Life Insurance Company, et al., where we obtained a summary judgment on damages for $7.9 million against two insurance companies who had failed to properly pay the people they had agreed to insure on supplemental cancer insurance policies.
In another case, Littlejohn v. State of South Carolina, we secured a $7.5 million tax rebate for senior citizens who had been denied information about their right to a tax exemption from the State of South Carolina.
In Edge v. State Farm Insurance Company, class members received a settlement refunding the amount of unfairly increased premiums charged by State Farm.
Now more than ever, we must be vigilant about instances of abuse of trust, misrepresentations, fraud, and bad faith schemes for financial gain. Mr. Harpootlian has the experience, resources, and skills to investigate and uncover these types of unfair practices to bring relief to injured consumers.
